This week we’ve been joined by local student Ella Quinton for work experience. Having a flair for design, Ella shares what she has enjoyed about working in the busy hub of a creative agency…

Buy-From Creative Agency welcomed local student Ella for work experience.

What made you choose Buy-From for your Work Experience?

I had heard that Buy-From is a creative agency and, after hearing the word “creative”, I was intrigued. After looking further into the agency, I knew that I HAD to do my work experience here. One of my biggest strengths is my creativity and I hope that one day I can use it in my career, whether that be in graphic design, photography etc.

What have you enjoyed the most since being here?

During my work experience at Buy-From, I’ve enjoyed learning and developing skills: such as understanding the clients’ requirements to use as a guide when rebranding a company.

Is there anything that took you by surprise while working in a Marketing Agency?

If I’m being honest, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. With having Creative Media classes in school, I wasn’t sure how similar the two might be. The main difference, I would say, is at school we’re given a set brief on a client’s requirements/needs however, the client’s brief can change sometimes due to their lack of knowledge and understanding of what’s best for their business.

What are the main skills you’ve learned this week?

I’ve learnt how to use Canva when designing an Instagram ‘carousel’ which was quite fun. I’ve also had a refresh on how to use Excel as I used it to create research spreadsheets.

What’s been your favourite part of this week?

I can honestly say that I’ve enjoyed every day that I’ve been there. From working alongside my peers to getting to understand how a company runs. I’ve genuinely enjoyed my work experience.

Was there any particular task or project that you enjoyed the most?

I enjoyed creating a ‘carousel’ on Canva as it is an application that I had never used before.

How do you think this work experience will prepare you for the rest of your school life and future career?

I think this will prepare me for my future career as it gives me an insight into what a career in marketing looks like. It’s certainly a path that I’d consider in the future. I feel like I’ve definitely gained some knowledge and experience (it is called work experience after all) as well as confidence with working amongst my peers.

Thanks for joining us Ella, we’ve loved having you!
